ABOUT

Salt & Mirrors & Cats is a new literary zine publishing a variety of voices from new and established authors inspired by the whimsical — but sometimes, also frightening — world of superstitions.

Submissions to our first issue included short stories, poetry, flash fiction, artworks, as well as referenced articles. We also have an accompanying podcast with tales and interviews with members of our team and four guest writers. Listen to it HERE.

Volume 1 of the Salt & Mirrors & Cats zine is OUT NOW! Read through an amazing 150+ noir-style pages of poetry, short fiction, essays and artwork about superstitions — from the minds of authors such as Anna Chorlton, Lyndsey Croal, Rachel Deering and Willow Winsham. We are now working in collaboration with Kerria Seabrooke to produce an audio version of some the best stories submitted to our zine, inspired by the Alternative Stories and Fake Realities podcast. Check out our podcast HERE!

JANUARY 2023

On a Friday 13th in January 2023, we asked for your help to turn this dream project into a reality, and just little under a month later we were fully funded — all thanks to your support! By contributing to our first fundraiser goal, you helped us towards:

  • Printing costs, so that we can create the first physical copy of our zine,
  • Design commissions, created by the wonderful Prairie Bones,
  • And most importantly, author payments—as we believe in the importance of supporting the creators who shall transport you to their own magical, unique, and superstitious world in the pages of our zine!
